DBCO-NH-PEG3-acid contains a carboxylic acid functional group (-COOH) and an azide-reactive DBCO (dibenzocyclooctyne) group. The PEG3 spacer between these functional groups provides flexibility and hydrophilicity to the molecule.
DBCO-NH-PEG3-acid is a popular building block for DBCO derivatization. The acid group can react with amine to form amide bond under coupling conditons in the presence of activators such as EDC, DCC and HATU. DBCO. On the other hand readily react with azide bearing biomolecule through a copper-free click reaction instantly and in high yield.
