APN-C3-PEG4-alkyne CAS:2183440-36-8 ists of a thiol-reactive 3-arylpropiolonitrile (APN) group and a terminal alkyne group. It is fairly stabile in aqueous media. Unlike maleimide thiol coupling, in which, the newly formed sulfide bond is relatively unstable and can undergo various side reactions, the APN group undergoes an targeted-coupling of thiols on biomolecules to form a stable thioether bond.
